Cisco Network Access Control for Enterprise

We are currently studying the deployment for a Cisco Network Access Control solution, but I must confess I'm a little confused with the different Cisco Appliances.

Our company has aproximately 500 employees and goal is to provide to our employees (which are in our Active Directory) a seamless authentication in our network. Similar what we already have for our wireless network (using Cisco ACS and Wireless Access Controller), which also puts the user into the department VLAN based on his AD profile.

Contractors or temporaries which are not in our Active Directory must have their access authorised by IT and assigned to a VLAN accordingly.

We want to block rogue/unauthorised devices.

I'm not sure if to deploy this we're going to need either:

  • Cisco ISE
  • Cisco NAC Appliance
  • Cisco NAC Guest Access

Even after Googling, I cant say that I understand in 100% the difference between these 3 appliances.

We already have:

  • Cisco ACS 5.1
  • Cisco Wireless controller (WLC)

Your help is appreaciated, so we can get clarified.

Many thanks!
