ISE NFR VMWare - Default username and password

Hi,

i've just installed the NFR USB version of ISE on an ESXi server.

The ISE boot just fine, but the default username/password (admin/cisco) dosn't work.

I'm trying to login to the Red Hat to set correct ip address etc.

The partno is:

ISE-1.0-MR2-NFR-USB

Anyone who have tried to install this and been able to login?

The mentioned username/password combination is for the web interface only. The username/password for the CLI (RedHat as you call it) is provided during install. There is no default here.

Thats correct for the ISO install.

But this is the NFR (Not-For-Resell) version on a USB Stick.

It's a complete VMware image, that is booting up the CLI (which is a RedHat :o) asking for a predefine username and password.

It's not asking for a new username/password combination, since the installation step has been provided by Cisco.

But no one seems to know this username/password.

Sorry for my misunderstanding. I was not aware of the fact that the NFR installation differs from the ISO install.

I don't think I can be of any help.

Maybe, based on the installation process of other cisco software, it could be:

L/P: cisco/cisco

L/P: Cisco/Cisco

Otherwise, is it possible to boot from the ISO to perform a password recovery procedure (Option 3 or 4)?

I got the username/password from my local Cisco pusher

And it is:     admin/default1A

What ESXi version/procedure was used to install it? I keep getting error message "unsupported disk type, code 7" when I start the NFR VM in both 4.1 and 5.0

I use ESXi 5.0.

To install the ISE NFR, I used "VMware vCenter Converter Standalone":

1. Choose Convert machine
2. Select source type: Backup image or third-party virtual machine
3. Select destination type: VMware Infrastructure virtual machine
4. Choose Next a couple of times, and Finish
5. Boot the ISR, login and change ip address/gateway

Thanks. Tried that, but it fails saying "missig catalog file" using VMware converter 4.

NFR files unpack without errors and creates these files:

- ISE_1.0MR2.vmdk

- ....vmsd

- ....vmx

- ....vmxf

- ....nvram

- vmware

- vmware-0

- vmware-1

- vmware-2

Any files missing (corrupt tar file?) or am I forgetting something else?

Those are the same files I have. I just followed Torben's instructions using VMware converter 5 and it worked. thanks!

Yes, I have the same ISE_1.0MR2 and the admin/default1A combination worked.

The ISE 1.2 NFR on USB stick does indeed use admin/ISEc0ld as the default CLI credentials. Confirmed in my own lab mere minutes ago!
