Issue installing Cisco ACS 5.6 VMware

Hi Everyone,

Well it seems my experience with VM products from cisco has been a tedious one, i have little more of an issue with another appliance.

specifically Cisco ACS 5.6, i was published the acs 5.6 .iso i'm using and running everything as per cisco doc's and i have no luck getting this VM appliance to install.

to me it seems like a  botched package, do i need to get it re-published to me or is there something i'm missing here.

replicated the same error:

Vmware workstation

Vmware ESXI 5.5 update 1

VirtualBox

Please could someone point me in the right direction.

Thank You!,

I am running Cisco ACS 5.6

I am running Cisco ACS 5.6 Primary/Secondary with patch 1 on VMWare ESXi 5.1 update 2 without any issues.  Here is how I did it:

1) create a VM from ESXi 5.1 update 2 using Linux other 32 bits,

2) assign 100GB diskspace thin provision client

3) assign 2 cpu, 2 cores to the VM,

4) assign 4GB of RAM to the VM,

5) configure the boot option in the VM to reboot in 10 seconds if it can not boot,

6) start the VM instance,

7) mount the ISO ACS_v5.6.0.22.iso to VM,

8) take about 10 minutes to install,

9) run "setup",

10) reboot

11) patch the ACS with patch 1

that's how I did it.  As a matter of fact, I have both Cisco ACS 5.6 patch 1 and ISE 1.3 running in the same ESXi 5.1 update 2 without any issues using the same method

Make sure the md5sum of your ACS ISO you download matches with the one published by Cisco.  It is possible that your ISO might be corrupted.

thanks for the reply, i will

thanks for the reply, i will need to get the package re-published to me as i dont have access directly to these files

will speak to our reseller.

just on a side note, i want to explain my reason for using ACS and hopefully im going in the right direction. I've got an entire cisco wireless environment containing:

Cisco WLC 8500

Prime 2.1

MSE 8.0

i want to use ACS to manage the radius NAC state so i can redirect or present another web service when i need to. Purpose is to use this as a session interruption to control what external re-direct page they see.

i see you CCIESEC, mabe you can answer these questions.

appreciate any reply.

LOL.... Just because I have a cciesec means nothing.  You're much better at cisco products than I am.

I work for Checkpoint :-) so I won't be able to help you much :-(
