Re: Two networks in ACS appliance

Hi,

Although the Cisco ACS appliance comes with 2 x Ethernet ports, you can't use both interfaces at the same time. Only one (1) port can be use at any time.

Pls refer to the following doc:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/sw/secursw/ps5338/products_installation_guide_chapter09186a00805a2b05.html#wp1044423

* Look under "Ethernet Connectors"

Hope this answer your question.

Re: Two networks in ACS appliance

Hi,

I have a doubts regarding the aforementioned query; what is the benefits behind having two interfaces on the appliance and only one interface utilized on the same time !! one more question, Why do they "Cisco" have two free slots on the appliance !!

My requirements to have one interface dedicated for management and the other for AAA functionality !!

could u plz shed some light on this..

Belal

Re: Two networks in ACS appliance

Hi Belal,

You can make use of other, if NIC 1 goes bad, so that you can re-configure ACS SE to use NIC 2 as NIC 1 is bad.

Though you cannot have dedicated management port for ACS SE.

These are options that you have :

[1] Only let certain IP addresses/network to have access to manage/administer ACS,

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/access/acs_soft/csacs4nt/acs41/user/admin.htm#wp726913

[2] You can console into ACS SE, but that wont provide you with complete functionality, that you have though GUI. But it does have some functionality that you do not have through GUI.

So, you can setup ACS SE Console through a Terminal Server,
