ACE 20 stunned

Hi,

The ACE primary of platform tv-cat (6509 + ACE20) failed to give service and failed to see the secondary and the opposite too, getting the two active.

10134123245 syslog 02/09/2012 14:05:42 09/02/2012 14:05:42 1 Feb 9 Feb 2012 13:42:55 tv-cat-ctxdns:% ACE-2-727012: HA: FT Group 3 changed state to FSM_FT_STATE_ACTIVE. Event: FSM_FT_EV_PEER_DOWN

The primary ace was no traffic, which is ensured by the secondary.

Following a HW reset the ACE module primary.

The ACE up again without problems. Now as being secondary.

Never miss management module.

Anybody can help me?

Louis,

Your best bet for getting to root cause would be to open a TAC Case and provide the engineer with a showtech from both the active and the standby.   Without that data is would be impossible to tell what caused the ACTIVE/ACTIVE scenario.

Having said that, there is a feature that will prevent an active active scenario when the FT link traffic is interupted.  This feature is call a query interface:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/ace/vA2_3_0/configuration/administration/guide/redundcy.html#wp1016009

This is configured under the ft peer and provides an alternate interface to try to reach the ft peer should the FT vlan goes down.  If the ACE can reach its peer over the query vlan, it will not be come active.

Hope this helps,

Chris

What is your current version?

#show version

Did any of them reboot or crash?
