ACE 4710 write error: No space left on device

According to Cisco Website this is possible bug CSCTx03563 or CSCue38032.

My 4710 is running 4.2(0). It mentions calling TAC for a script. Has anyone run into this and know what script needs run or what the work around is so that I can upload new code to fix this?

Hi Robert,

I worked with few of these issues and you can get script from a TAC and that should help in clearing the problem definitely. But ultimately upgrading to the version which has fix for the DDTS would be the final fix. Please don't reload the device or effect will be catastrophic i.e you will lose the configurations. Below are the DDTS.

CSCtx03563  ACE producing huge httpd logs over time when XML is extensively used

CSCue38032  ACE out of space due to SSL session cache

Hi Robert,

You need to load the workaround image to the device in image directory and then do the below:

admin) # load image CSCtx03563 _workaround.bin

And that is all you need to do. Also, we have seen inconsistent results sometimes with the workaround image but mostly it works fine. If it doesn't then you would need to let TAC get into debug shell and delete the files manually.

Thanks for the reply. I have the .bin file from Cisco, but instructions aren't exactly clear. I am getting the instructions 3rd hand. They state to do a "load image:XXX", and the XXX is what shows up under the image directory. I assume this is the new .bin file they sent me...is that correct?

Ran the script and the errors are gone. So is the c4710ace-mz.A4_2_0.bin image.

When I do a "sh startup-config", it is gone.

Hi Robert,

That is expected. Do copy running-config startup-config and it should be fine.

That is the reason i told you not to reload or result would be catastrophic.

So far so good. What about the missing image file? I have "boot system image:c4710ace-mz.A4_2_0.bin" but when i look it isn't there:

dir image:

      912  Mar 30 07:52:54 2011 httpdservercert.pem

           Usage for image: filesystem
                   28973056 bytes total used
                  524386304 bytes free
                  553359360 bytes total

Hi Robert,

This shouldn't have affected any image files. You need to put the software in image: .

Here's the link to download the software:

http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=281222179&flowid=151&softwareid=282775307&release=A5(3.1a)&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

And here's the link on how to put the image on dir image:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/app_ntwk_services/data_center_app_services/ace_appliances/vA3_2_x/configuration/admin/guide/ace_admgd/upgrade.html#wp1032435

Please visit section: Copying the upgrade image to ACE.
