ARPT cookie isn't sent by InternetExplorer sometimes

Our customer uses your product(CSS) for balancing loading over several servers where some website is working. This website requires login for users. To handle user session between users requests Tomcat session mechanism is used.

But sometimes while working with website (after login to it) users are asked about login again, means that on server side there was no user session while next request.

As we found out this problem is connected to the fact that sometimes Internet Explorer (6.0) doesn't send ARPT cookie that identify server where CSS forwarded first request from user (we use cookies mechanism on CSS).

As a result CSS forwards this request to a different server where there is no user session.

On the attached pictures you may see log from HttpWatch that shows the following:

1. while getting content from website IE sends ARPT

2. in the returned html there is a link to a stylesheet file and IE opens connection to gets it, BUT

while making this request it doesn't send ARPT cookie! As a result new ARPT cookie value comes from CSS.

Can you tell us why it happens so?

May be you can give us any ideas how to prevent this situation?

Looking forward for your reply.

Best regards,

Re: ARPT cookie isn't sent by InternetExplorer sometimes

I looked at the gif but it's hard to say why the cookie wasn't sent.

Can we get the complete sniffer trace file ?

The goal is to look for a possible pattern and then try to confirm this in a lab and then see if there is a reason or a way to correct this.
