Can I use ethernet ports in backup CSS5-SCM-2GE

Could anyone advice me - can I use 1GE ethernet port on second SCM module in slot2?

# sh chassis

1 CSS5-SCM-2GE primary

2 CSS5-SCM-2GE backup

Any comments will be appreciated

Hi,

Unfortunately, the secondary SCM on a CSS11506 is backup and would not be online until the primary fails. This means that it cannot be used at all while the primary SCM is working properly. Check this link as reference:

You are right, the secondary SCM would not be used at all. So it cannot replace the SAM module.
