CCS and Sun IPMP (IP MultiPath)

Hi

I have a configuration like this

-----CCS Backup ------|

FW--L2SW-| | SUN(Dual Homed running IPMP)

-----CCS Master--------|

CCS is configured for Box-to-Box Redundancy

For Sun IPMP, other than providing redundancy, it is LOAD SHARING for outgoing packet.

The problem is about this load sharing of outgoing packet. Since the CCS backup does not provide process packet and the interconnect betw CCS does not pass data packet, outgoing packets from the SUN reaching the CCS backup will be lost.

Does any one able to overcome this constraints and have it working with SUN IPMP?

Please advice and help. Thank you.

In this type of configuration, with what appears to be servers directly connected

to the CSS, this will not work. I am not familiar with IPMP on the Sun machines but if both interfaces could use the same default gateway per

interface then you could put an L2 switch in between the servers and the CSS. If the Sun machines use different default gateways per interface you

might consider putting a second address on the circuit vlan. In either case

a L2 switch should be used in between the CSS and the servers to prevent

'remapping' of the flows on the CSS.

The reason this isn't working a box-to-box redundant configuration is

because the backup box only has a single active link (redundancy-protocol)

and won't pass traffic on the other circuits.

Hope this helps.
