i want to have a box from cisco with exact fuctinality coz at present i am running squid proxy for providing internet to my LAN and wan users and the squid proxy is doing the NAT .we have tested bluecoat by replacing the proxy and things were real smooth , i want to know that is there a box with exact functionality coz i have a cisco network and would like to a be a cisco patent i have seen one box called content engine.can it do NAT as well as serve as a proxy server with content filtering and reporting..if it caters to all these i would be happy to go for a cisco content engine 500 series..any suggestions appreciated.

Cisco content engine should do the trick for you. Go through the URL:

The cache engine itself will not do NAT for the network, only serve as a Proxy.
If you have Cisco Routers, you should be able to use WCCP to transparently forward all Web traffic to the Cache Engine.

Well, in such a case, why people prefer Bluecoat over a Cisco Content Engine..
Is there a huge price difference..?
Of course, the Cisco CE can do more job than a proxy, i guess, like it can act as CDN device as well..
My question is, if the requirement is only to do a Proxy job, is it ok, to buy a CE box than a bluecoat appliance?

Btw, I am proposing SE612-IPROXY-K9 for just Proxy purposes..
Am I losing anything by doing this..? instead of choosing Bluecoat..?
