We have just deployed a new website here. The server (HPUX running Apache) sits behind a CSS11506 with the SSL accelerator modules. The CSS is terminating SSL. The web page would take 8.1 seconds to load with 100meg connection thru to the server....the page is roughly 100k in size.
After disabling the nagle algorithm on the CSS, the page load time went down to 2 seconds. I know the function of the nagle and all, but my question is.....has anyone else seen this behavior, and how can I determine in the future if nagle is going to be a performance improvement or a performance hit on a web page? What is it about specific web pages that nagle finds a performance problem with.......
Thanks,
Victor
