CSS: check the avalablity real server

we deployed layer 2 CSS for load balance, and it just basic configuration. does the basic configuration can detect 1 real server down and auto switch to another server?

If not, what configuration we need to make sure:

if user request been redirect to server 1;

server 1 down while user connecting to it;

CSS detects it and forward the request to server 2.

Re: CSS: check the avalablity real server

There is automatic icmp probe.

If your server stops responding to ping request, the CSS will consider it is down.

You can adjust the probe to sth else - like http probe - using the keepalive command.

If a request is sent to a server that has not yet been detected a down, there is no automatic redirect.

The client connection will fail and when the client will attempt a new connection it will be sent to the other server.

Gilles.
