Ether-mgmt routing in CSS

Hi Gilles,

I am facing a strange problem with Management port configurations.

CSS are configured for Box-Box redundancy and planning to use the Management port for Managing both the boxes.

1)We are having internal network in 10.0.0.0/8.

2)The networks configured for CSS

Ether-Mgmt-10.5.3.0/24(VLAN800)

Frontend for VIP's - 10.5.1.0/24(VLAN816)

Backend servers - 10.5.2.0/24.(VLAN820)

I configured a static route to allow access for the CSS through the Management port to manage the CSS's

The static route as follows

Ip management route 10.0.0.0/8 10.5.3.1.

When i tried to create a circuit for VLAN 816 with ip address 10.5.1.1/24 i am getting an error message stating the ip address already in use.

When i removed the Management static route i am able to configure the circuit with mentioned ip address.

What is the relation between management route and circuits is it an expected behaviour or a bug?

Re: Ether-mgmt routing in CSS

this is correct.

There can't be any overlap between the management interface routing table and the regular routing table.

If you use 10.0.0.0/8 for the management interface, you can't use 10.x.x.x on the circuit vlan.

Gilles.
