IP Management Route

Hi,

I'm trying to add a management route to a CSS11506, but when I enter the route, the box notifies me that I've entered an overlapping route (which is what I was expecting). I've currently got all the RFC1918 addresses routed in one direction for traffic routing purposes, but would like to add a Class C route from 1918 address space as a management route.

Is this possible? I was under the impression that I could only manage the box through the management interface.

you can actually manage the box from any interface [telnet,ssh or http].

The management interface offers the security that it does not share the same routing table as the rest of the box and therefore prevent traffic from being routed from public side to management network or vice-versa.

Personally, I don't think it's really necessary to use this interface.

This independent routing table forces us to forbid the use of overlapping network.

This is due to internal hardware architecture.
