KAL-AP Keepalive properties

In a GSS, I can configure the KAL-AP properties under the ressources Tab. If I select KAL-AP Type = Fast, I can define the number of retries and the keepalive interval is automatically set by the GSS. Now, if I select KAL-AP Type = Standard, The only parameter is "minimum interval". What is the exact meaning of this parameter ? what would be the number of retries if I set minimum interval = 30 seconds ?. What is the Cisco recommended type ? Fast or standard ?
