load-balancing for SMTP using sticky - why?

Hello,

I found very interesting configuration for load-balancing (ACE) smtp communication (Ironport ESA):

I have one question: why is there used sticky? SMTP communication is done only by one tcp session, therefore I think there is no need any sticky.

can anybody explain me reason for sticky in this configuration example?
