"CMS enable" command fails to start services

We are trying to set up CDN network (3 x CE 565) which comprises of a Content Engine, Content Router and Content-Distribution-Manager. Understand that we need to enable the CMS in the CDM but when we run the command "CMS enable" in the CDM the services fail to start. Is there some thing we are missing out.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Before you can start cms, here is the list of things you MUST configure/do :

disk config(sysfs, cfs, mediafs and cdnfs)

hostname

interface

ip default-gateway

ip domain-name

ip name-server

primary-interface

cdm ip address

cms enable

Could you double check and let us know if this solved your problem or not.

Yup we got the services to start Thks..

Now we are trying to verify if content can be delivered to a client. Basically what we have done is to set up a notebook as a web server and the manifest file is also stored in one of the directory of the web server.

What would be the simpiest way to verify that the content can be delivered to the client?

What we have done is to create a Web server as Content Provider and assigned to a Channel and also the Content Engine is assigned to the Channel.

Any help or suggenstions will be appreciated.

thks..

Couple of things here:

1. Make sure the device mode is set to Content Distribution Manager

TACcdm#sho device-mode current

Current device mode: content-distribution-manager

TACcdm#

2. If it is a CDM, then you may need to refresh the database portion of the unit like this:

TACcdm#cms deregister force

This will basically force a database cleanup and then you can type in cms enable again.

Also, make sure you have your "primary interface", "default gateway" setup.

If you need any further assistance, just drop in your config for review
