Reverse Proxy caching without WCCP

I am attempting to troubleshoot a reverse proxy setup where requests are load balanced by two CSSs to a pair of content engines which will get the content from a pair of origin servers in the caes of a cache miss. I can't find this type of configuration described anywhere on CCO, the only one like it describes using a router in front of the CSS using WCCP. Is this type of configuration valid??

Thanks in advance

this is a valid config.

The sample configs are

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/conntsw/ps491/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00800af658.html#xtocid7

As you said, there is on the diagram a WCCP router.

This is a mistake. This router is just used as a default gateway and is not doing wccp.

I will have this document corrected.

Gilles.

Great, thanks Gilles

Gilles,

In the sample CSS configuration, how does the content engine know the to request content from the origin web servers?

Gilles,

We have a Content switch (not Cisco), SSL Box (not cisco) and a Router (no wccp) and CE560. We want to cache all the content except files that contains csv and cgi extensions. We also want to cache for TCP port 24400 because of we don't want to use well-known ports. Can we cache for TCP port 24400 for http traffic on the CE560?
