set max-parse-length 8192 on ACE

Hi all, I would like to know the meaning of 'set max-parse-length 8192' on ACE.

Looking at Cisco documenation I found:

"...You can set the maximum number of bytes to parse for generic protocols by using the

set max-parse-length command in generic parameter-map configuration mode.

You can set the maximum number of bytes to parse for generic protocols by using the set max-parse-length

command in generic parameter-map configuration mode....'

After that I got more confuse. Can please,  someone clarify what a set max-parse-lenght is? Thanks a lot.

set max-parse-length 8192 on ACE

In order for the payload inspection to function, you need to set an  appropriate max-parse-length. This is necessary to tell the parser how  much data to inspect in the payload, and by default it is set to 4096  bytes.
