Server status: DOWN

CSS11506# sh ver

Re: sntp problem

julxu,

read the note in the following config guide

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/contnetw/ps792/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a0080409805.html#wp1160987

"When using static routes for managing the CSS from subnets beyond the management LAN, the Ethernet management port supports the management applications listed in the "Configuring the Ethernet Management Port" section except CDP, DNS, SNTP, and TACACs."

In other words, you can't route SNTP traffic out of the management port.

Gilles.

Re: sntp problem

Hi,

I have had this same problem. Try manually updating the local clock first to the current time

clock date

clock time

I did this and my ntp server then appeared as up.

Hope it helps.

Re: sntp problem

your problem was because sntp can only adjust the time by a few minutes [or hours], so if the clock is too far away it does not work.

Howvever this is not the point here.

In this case, the problem is that sntp can't be sent out of the management port to a sntp server that would be behind a gateway as mentioned in the config guide.

Gilles.
