Hi, I would like to know what are the different ways available to implement Transparent Proxy in a network.

I know that one of the ways is to use WCCP and Content Engine. Is there any other method available..?

I am interested in knowing all the possible options including the non-cisco ones..?

You can use a route policy or a linux box running squid. Their are probably other server apps that would do the job.

I think - WCCP will only transparently redirect port 80 traffic and WCCP is also used for for traffic shaping non transparently proxied traffic which dosn't have anything to do with transparent proxying.

If your using IE browsers you can use a microsoft DHCP server to set DHCP options to auto configure client to use a proxy.

Another interesting read is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_Proxy_Autodiscovery_Protocol

Hope this helps
