Web App HA/DR with CSS GSLB

Hi,

I would like to implement a DR solution for one of my web applications. I was considering the following solution:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/contnetw/ps792/products_configuration_example09186a00801dcd75.shtml

Do I need the enhanced software license to use GSLB? The two CSS switches I have are running version 7.5 with the standard feature set license.

Where can I find details on the features supported by the different license options?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Yes, you need the enhanced feature set to do GSLB on your CSS, actually I believe that the only feature added with the enhanced license is the DNS and GSLB.

This is an old document about CSS 11000 but is pretty much the same:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/hw/contnetw/ps792/products_configuration_example09186a00801dcd75.shtml

If you are planning to implement this feature on your environment, I would suggest analyze many options. The GSLB feature on the CSS is good but has a few limitations, I am not saying it would not work as many people have it running fine these days, but if your need a complex solution you might want to check the GSS (Global Site Selector) option:

Hope it helps!!
