Cisco Smart Software Licensing is a new way of thinking about licensing. It simplifies the licensing experience across the enterprise making it easier to purchase, deploy, track, and renew Cisco Software. It provides visibility into license ownership and consumption through a single, simple user interface.
With Smart Software Manager, you can organize and view your licenses in groups called virtual accounts. You can also monitor the licenses, product instances, and satellites in your virtual accounts by configuring the email notification settings. Each user can have different notification settings.
The Email Notification tab of the Smart Software Licensing page allows you to choose events such as informational or alerts for which your associated email address will receive notifications. The Informational Events alert you to order for new licenses and product instances while the Alert events report on the changes to the status of your licenses and products.
This article provides instructions on how to manage the email notifications in your virtual account.
Manage Email Notification Settings in a Virtual Account
Note: If you do not have an account yet, create a new one by clicking Register Now.
Step 2. In the Cisco Software Central page, choose License > Smart Software Licensing.
Note: Alternatively, you can click Smart Software Licensing under the License area.
Step 3. Click on Email Notification.
Step 4. Check the Receive a daily email summary containing the events selected below check box to receive a daily email summary of all selected alerts. Email summaries are sent at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).
The Email Address area displays the email address that you have specified to receive email notifications. In this example, the email address used is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Step 5. (Optional) Check the Alert Events check box or boxes of the corresponding event that you want to receive notifications from.
The options are:
Insufficient Licenses — Receive an alert whenever the account license usage exceeds the existing accounts.
Licenses Expiring — Receive an alert whenever the expiration date for a term-limited license is approaching.
Licenses Expired — Receive an alert whenever the expiration date for a term-limited license has passed.
Product Instance Failed to Connect — Receive an alert whenever a product has not successfully connected to the Cisco servers during the renewal period.
Product Instance Failed to Renew — Receive an alert whenever a product was removed because it has not connected to the Cisco servers during its maximum allowed renewal period.
Satellite Synchronization Overdue — Satellite has not synchronized within the expected time period.
Satellite Unregistered and Removed — Satellite failed to synchronize in 90 days and has been removed.
Note: In this example, Insufficient Licenses, Licenses Expiring, Licenses Expired, Product Instance Failed to Connect, and Product Instance Failed to Renew check boxes are checked.
Step 6. (Optional) Check the Informational Events check box or boxes of the corresponding event that you want to receive notifications from.
The options are:
New Licenses — Receive an alert whenever new licenses are added to the account.
New Product Instance — Receive an alert whenever a new product instance is successfully registered.
Licenses Reserved — Receive an alert whenever a product instances has reserved a license in the account.
Note: In this example, all check boxes are checked.
Step 7. Check the Receive an email when a Satellite synchronization file has finished processing by Smart Software Manager check box to receive an email when a satellite synchronization file has finished processing by Smart Software Manager.
Note: In this example, the check box is left unchecked.
Step 8. Click Save to proceed.
You will be notified that the email notification settings were successfully saved.
You should now have managed the email notification settings from your virtual account.
