I have a Cisco 112 ATA. When I lift a connected phone I hear a series of beeps before I get the dial tone.
Why is this?
Is the ATA trying to warn me of something?

Hello machare77,
Two possible reasons for the series of beeps, are:
MWI Dial Tone; played instead of the Dial tone when there are unheard messages in the caller's mailbox.
Cfwd Dial tone; played when all calls are forwarded.

Thank you. My phone has a message waiting light. Is there a setting on the Cisco 112 ATA that it can use to switch this light on when there is an unheard messages in the caller's mailbox?

Enabling VMWI Serv within the ata should activate the light feature.
hope this helps.

Thank you, I get beeps at the start of the dial tone if there is an unheard message.
VMWI Serv, MWI Serv, in Line 1 and Message Waiting in User 1 are all set to on.
The light on the phone does not come on.
Is there anything else I could try?

what firmware is on the SPA112?
I have seen a reference to a bug and a MWI issue.

I think I have the latest firmware, as I did a recent upgrade:
Model: | SPA112, 2 FXS |
Hardware Version: | 1.0.0 |
Boot Version: | 1.3.1 (Dec 11 2013 - 17:43:53) |
Firmware Version: | 1.3.5 (004p) Oct 28 2014 |
Recovery Firmware: | 1.3.0 (001) |

I should add that I am in the UK using Voipfone. The phone I have is a BT Converse 2300. It has a 3 position message waiting switch. Positions 1 and 2 are for an ISDX switch, position 3 is for an SX2000 switch. Should the SPA112 behave like one of these?
