BT Freestyle 4500 phone doesn't work with SPA232D ATA
I have just got a SAP232D-G7 V02 telephone ATA (S/N CCQ192400NS) with a view to using it initially with a BT Freestyle 4500 analogue phone in the UK. I have set up the ATA using information provided by my service provider, BT, and they confirm that it is working well. My own layman's observation of the Voice Module in the Configuration Utility also indicates that it is working fine. However, the BT Freestyle 4500 phone does not work with it at all. All I get is silence on the line whether on or off the hook and the Config. Utility indicates it is "on hook". I have tried another phone, a Panasonic KX-TG8421E, and this works just fine. I conclude that the ATA is OK but I would like to be able to use the BT Freestyle 4500 phone which is, otherwise, an excellent phone. I was wondering if anybody on this forum (i) has had the same experience and solved it or (ii) has a good suggestion? Looking forward to some good input and happy hols to everyone.
