Hi,
Is it possible to use a Cisco Unified IP Phone 6901 with an Asterisk based phone system?
Thanks,
Ollie

So is this a firmware upgrade? I can't see a way of upgrading the firmware without Cisco Unified Communications Manager, which I don't have.
Thanks,
Ollie

Although its for a 99xx, the concept should be largely the same:

Unfortunately this phone has bad SIP firmware that breaks 3rd Party SIP server integration. The phone completely ignores a dialplan file once it downloads it from the TFTP server. Depending on your use case, the phone may be completely useless. At a minimum, your users will be stuck with a 10 second inter-digit timeout. 10 seconds to send the call to the PBX. Really frustrating. As usual, Cisco has not bothered to remedy this serious shortcoming in this model phone despite it being relatively easy to resolve with a service release.
