Hi Guys I was referred to this forum by moderator 'Primus' from the Cisco link below - any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.   Peter

Hi Guys

I have a 4.2 Linksys wired router (BEFSR41).

I use it on an Apple Mac and I've been trying to reset it but am stuck on that Username and Password pop-up at

I have so far tried a 30 secs reset, a 60 secs reset, a 3 mins reset, and a 'hard reset' as per instructions at the link below that someone was kind enough to post in this forum but unfortunately don't work for me.

I have carefully followed the instructions at the below link to no avail. I got as far as step 8, but as I'm on a Mac I don't know how to do step 9 to ping the router:

When I first bought the router in 2007 I can't remember if I configured it with the setup CD or manually configured it through the router's setup page.

I just purchased a Linksys PAP2T phone adaptor which I intend to use. The PAP2T is to use with the Sipgate internet phone service.

I am having a problem of 'one way audio'. When someone calls me the phone rings. I answer but I can't hear them although they can hear me.

However I am able to phone out and hear calls no problem.

As a result, Sipgate recommended tweaking my router settings as follows (for which I need to reset my Linksys BEFSR41 router to do so):

"How do I fix a problem with 'one way audio'?

One way audio is a common problem in VoIP. It can be caused by several factors and sometimes depends on the devices used. The most common reason for this problem is the user's router. Some, but not all routers, use a symetric NAT (Network Address Translator). For a further, technical explanation for this, take a look at:

You should also try to adjust your router/firewall to pass through voice packets (forwarding them). You will likely have to go into your router/firewall settings under port forwarding and forward the following ports:

Port: 5060 / UDP (SIP signaling)

Port: 5004 / UDP (RTP, language)

Port: 10000 UDP (STUN) "

Any tips or advice about how I might be able to reset my BEFSR41 router would be really appreciated!

Warm regards

Dear Sir;

This product (BEF router) is a Linksys product, unfortunately I cannot help here. I suggest you contact Linksys tech support for this issue.
