Bug Search Tool 2.0's long awaited release coming soon

I am happy to announce that a new version of Bug Search tool will soon be replacing the current beta version in June 2013..

The new Bug Search release will:

  • Provide a streamlined user interface that work in all modern browsers
  • Fix several bugs that will improve the quality of our search results data such that  all relevant  bugs appear in the search results.  These bugs will be available to customers within 12 hours of our security review process.
  • Allow several searching improvements including:
    • Allowing refinement of all search parameters directly on the same screen.
    • Searching for bugs based on model, series or product ID (PID).
    • Providing users the list of versions that run on their selected product to choose from

  • Version fidelity – In an effort to show customers only “found in” and “fixed in” releases that they can actually download on CDC, we spent a lot of effort in this area.  We will be showing customers a more inclusive list of releases that impact a bug.
    • If a release is available on CDC, it will be indicated right on the bug details page.
    • A link to download software for the series will be provided directly in the fixed in section of a bug.
    • (This is step 1 of a larger effort, but customers will notice a significant improvement in the first release.)
  • Other UI improvements:
    • Allow customers to view and scan through the contents of multiple release notes quickly
    • Allow customers to provide ratings on the information provided on the bug release note
    • Fix the export to Excel size limit and include all customer visible fields in this export
    • Alert customers when a bug fix resulted in an intentional behavior change
    • Streamlined bookmarkable urls

There are also several other enhancements in place to improve performance and tool stability.  This will be Bug Search’s GA release!

Here is a quick preview of some of the changes you will see:

Bug Search Tool 2.0's long awaited release coming soon

We will post the new link this weekend.

We have simplified the urls and made them bokmarkable.  All old urls will be redirected for you, but the new ones will be more simple.

Re: Bug Search Tool 2.0's long awaited release coming soon

Hi Sam & Christine,

I'm just wondering if the BST look and feel we are seeing

since the weekend is the "final" product? If so, I'm going to need

a tutorial because I can't get it to work the way I thought it

was supposed to for the life of me

If I try to search a Product Family>Product Name and go through all the search steps

to get to Communications Manager 9.1 and search "DRF" it seems to populate

the related bugs, which is good. But there doesn't seem to be a way to move to

Communications Manager 8.6, or any other, without going through the whole process

again. My understanding was that one of the main points of the new version of BST

was the ability to move between version releases seamlessly??

If I just put Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CallManager) in the Product Name

box then 44,335 bugs are displayed and the Releases box is grayed out so I can't define

a specific version

Maybe I'm just missing something here which would be no surprise.

Cheers!

Rob

Hi Rob,

I have logged 2 issues with my engineering teams to figure out what is going on with the case you reported, it is definately not behaving as expected.

You tried the right things, and should not need a tutorial to search for these bugs.  I'll let you know when I hear back from them.

Thank you for your patience (and thanks for informing us)!

Hey Christine,

Thanks so much for your always speedy response here

I look forward to hearing back when these things get ironed out.

We never get through this type of major upgrade without a few kinks

Cheers!

Thanks Christine

Can you please let us know when the fixes have been applied.

If you could post up the new links as well that would be great. I can't get

to either BST or the old BTK today from IE or Firefox

Cheers!

Re: Bug Search Tool 2.0's long awaited release coming soon

Bug Search tool 2.0 (Beta version) was released on June 7, 2013.  The tool has gone live but we have discovered some issues. We are aggressively working to resolve the issues and expect to have them resolved soon. We will send out another update once BST is working as expected.  We appreciate your support and patience as we work to resolve these issues.

Re: Bug Search Tool 2.0's long awaited release coming soon

Hi Christine/Sam,

I haven't had an opportunity to do a ton of searches with the

newest incarnation of BST 2.0 but I must say it seems much,

much better I am able to switch between versions and products

quite well and I'm starting to get the hang of how it all works. If I do

see any issues I will certainly let you know.

THANKS for your ongoing support in making these tools work to their

full capability and for considering how users would like to see things perform!

Cheers!
