EX90 Transmits distorted audio which contains a hissing sound or entirely static

My customers EX90 internal microphone was not working and external callers could not hear unless my customer picked up the handset. I was informed by Cisco TAC this is a defect under CSCui77193. I have since RMA'd the defective device only to find the replacement is also facing same issue. TAC checked the replacement serial number agaist previous cases raised and found this EX90 was diagnosed as faulty but was refurbished and sent out again. Please can someone advise what this hardware defect actually is and is hardware replacement the only option?
