Known issues post-launch

Community Manager

Blog-knwownissues_csc_EN.png

There are some known issues that are ongoing post-launch. We'll keep you updated on their status in this post. Please subscribe if you'd like to receive a notice when we make changes.

  1. Video upload issues in Chrome on Windows
Video uploads need Flash. In order to enable Flash player, the following steps need to be followed  (see this adobe help article):
Go to the Chrome settings page - chrome://settings/content
    Click the "Flash" tab
    Disable "ask first"
Close Chrome, then reopen and you should now be able to upload videos

  2. Video files:
Videos are in the process of being uploaded. If you need to watch a video that does not play yet, please send us an email and provide the link.

  3. Some redirects aren't working
There are some redirects to communities that aren't working properly and you may get an error. If you use the global navigation (at the top of each page), or the "hamburger" menu hamburger.png you can get to the communities with no problem.

  4. Cisco Employee Leaderboards:
We are in the process of implementing the Cisco Employee Leaderboard and it will be available in the near future. Rest assured that all your contributios and votes are stored in the database.

  5. Documents Table of Content:
We are in the process of integrating the Table of Content on the documents that had it. This is in the list of future enhancements.

  6. Voice Systems Community:
Content on the SMB Voice Systems Community is not showing.  This is being worked out as top priority.

  7. Bookmarks and Follows:
The team is working on restoring your bookmarks and follows.

  8. RSS Feed Subscriptions:
Currently the RSS Feed link takes users to a broken xml page. We are reviewing the error and will work to fix it as soon as we can.

We are working to fix these known issues as soon as possible and we appreciate your patience while we continue to make improvements. Thank you.

Hi, if you look at bugs on cisco.com, under the Community discussion you now see the following.

We are sorry, integration with the Communities services is currently not functioning as expected. Please try again later.

Hi @bill.king1 thank you for letting us know about this. We will take a look and try to address as quickly as we can.

I noticed below descrepancy when using helpful voting. In certain case it appear 5 helpful votes and other times appear as 1 helpful vote.

I rated below therad and it appear as 5 helpful votes.

https://supportforums.cisco.com/t5/getting-started-with-wireless/cisco-aironet-1850-don-t-boot/m-p/3173758#M92397

Noticed it appear as 1 helpful votes for others ( I got 2 helpful votes for the responses made yesterday).

Is that intentional or some issue ?

Rasika

Community Manager

Hi @Rasika Nayanajith - you will see that when I give you a helpful vote, it only counts as 1, but when you and others give helpful, it will be 5. Anyone from bronze level and up, excluding employees, moderators, and community managers will give 5 helpful votes when they click.

I've updated the what to expect post with more information around that as well. Thank you for mentioning this so we can make sure we have messaging around that behavior.

VIP Purple

Hi Becky,

Thanks for clarification.

What was the logic behind it ? In my view this leads to some unfairness in voting system.

Yes, when I rate your response, you got 5 votes , while I got 1 from you :)

Rasika

@Rasika Nayanajith

Hi Rasika,

But I'm not competing with you for spots in the leaderboards. ;)

It's adjustable, and if it becomes a critical piece, we can revisit and adjust. The idea is to encourage peers to rate each other, and not have employees' ratings of things actually skew the results.

Like I said, though, it's open to feedback and we will definitely take your input on this. Thank you.

VIP Purple

Hi Becky,

I would suggest you to relook at it based on others feedback.

Hi Scott,

I am not able to receive any mails for any new discussions or any reply on the existing discussions for the Topics "IP Telephony", "Jabber Clients", "Telepresence " etc . which I was following. In earlier setup, we had option of "Following"  but could not find in new , if I need to enable again.

Please advise.

Community Manager

Hello Aman,

you could use these suggestions to receive emails for your subscriptions:

1) Go to the appropriate category. Click options on the top right (Represented by 3 vertical dots). Click subcribe.

2) Turn on the notification settings in your profile to 'AutomaticallySubscribe me to all topics I participate in'

3) Ensure all the notifications are enabled

4) And, you will see the subscriptions you have done in 2 places:

- Under your profile Page

- Under 'My settings' -- >Subscriptions & Notifications --> My Subscriptions

Hope this helps.

Thanks

I don't recall if this was an option in the old version, but there isn't a place to update the email address where I receive these notifcations? Does it automatically use the email address that I have set up on the cisco.com website for my CCO login?

Any reason why today all of a sudden there are menus where the heading is in Japanese looking writing?  The pull down of the first and last one is in english, the middle one has two entries in Japanese that I have no idea what they say.

This is the URL in chrome 60 at the moment:

In the previous version I also don't recall having to move between pages for longer posts. This can be a drag, please make it at least an option (i.e. display all responses on one page vs. having to move between pages).

Becky,

I think it would work better to have all votes equal the same amount. Employees, especially, Cisco TAC employees SHOULD skew the votes. They are typically more knowledgeable and the 4 more points could make a relevant post stand out more.

Plus, uniformity is a good thing.

Edit- Although, ideally all the points would be scaled 1:5 and used that way. The five points per star system is iffy as best.

Maybe the seniority of the member should detemine amount of stars given?

Ive noticed that all of my history of questions ive asked and answered in the past are gone. Will my history be restored or is it lost to the ether? Thanks.

Hi there, thank you for reporting this issue. We will take a look and see what’s going on with your previous contributions.
Hall of Fame Super Silver

I am now getting an email for posts I make.

It seems the auto-subscription to threads I've posted in (which I have active) isn't excluding my own postings.

New Member

Hi,

I appologize if I'm posting this is the wrong place.

I started a new discussion but I can't see it listed on the board.  I can see the discussion in "My subscriptions" but when I click on that it doesn't show the post.

Wireless - Mobility /  Other Wireless - Mobility Subjects,

with the subject:  Catalyst 3650 DTLS-3-PKI_ERROR: 1 wcm: PKI initialization error : Certificate initialization failed

UPDATE:

It's displaying now... thank you.

Hall of Fame Super Silver

I notice that in making a response that the Rich Text editor does not spell check. The HTML editor does spell check but provides no formatting options. Can you add spell check to the Rich Text editor?

HTH

Rick

Hall of Fame Super Silver

Rick - thanks for that observation.

In the short term I see I can create my reply in the rich text editor, flip it to html mode to spell check and then commit it as a post.

(Of course the proper solution would be to fix spell checking in the rich text editor.)

Hall of Fame Super Silver

Marvin

Thanks for the helpful suggestion. Yes that will be an effective work around and Yes the best answer is to fix spell checker in the rich text editor.

Please fix the spellcheck. It should red-mark any misspelled word as you type just like the old site.
Also, why the edit button was moved to the right corner at the top of the post? It is hard to find it if you want to make a quick change to the post you just replied to. Why not replace "quick reply" button with the edit button just like the old site. We don't really need both "reply" and "quick reply"

Thanks,

It appears that I have 2 accounts under my email, to whom may I contact to assist me on this?

thanks!

Hi @Marvin Rhoads you can update that setting under My Settings > Subscriptions & Notifications > Notification Settings.

Thank you for your comments about spell check. We will make sure the dev team takes a look at this.

Hi @geos can you please send us an email to csc-migration@cisco.com so we can further review? If you can send us both user names and which one you wanted to use, we will take a look.

Hello Becky,
I would like to continue using the "Georgios Sotiropoulos" (which is active since 2009) instead of "geos"
Please let me know if you need additional information on this.

Thanks in advance,
George

Hi Geos,

To use your old account. You need to use this SSOID: Sot****_2 to login.

There is another account with SSOID So****s. Let us know if you want to deactivate this account.

Hello there, it appears that with the new interface my account have been reseted or something like that. At 06-23-2017 I posted the following https://supportforums.cisco.com/t5/ipv6-integration-and-transition/ipv6-neighbor-discovery-awkward-behavior/td-p/3013093 which now is bind to an anonymous account for some reason and my account seems to be registered after that post at 08-30-2017 which is not true. I am memebr since a few years back and now it is like i have a new account created a few days ago. Can someone assist on that? Thank you very much.

We have updated the system to be uniform across all users. When you click on Helpful it will give 5 to all.

Thank you Monica.

At least one less issue now to worry about.

Rasika

I think there might be something wrong with the RSS links. When I click on the link in Firefox, I just get the raw XML, rather than Firefox offering to subscribe to it.

Gordon.

Hi @Gordon Ross - thank you for reporting this. We are looking into the issue on RSS feeds.

Hi @Richard Burts @Marvin Rhoads @Reza Sharifi

Thank you for the notes about the spell check. You can toggle it on by clicking the "abc"check button and it will run for you. However, I do understand you're asking for it to be automatically running instead of a toggle. I have put in a ticket for our team to review. In the meantime, though, clicking the button will start the process. It's a workaround compared to what you'd prefer, but we have it on our list.

Hall of Fame Super Silver

"abc" check button is on...

 CSC Spell Check.PNG

buut not working. Note the intentional misspelling of "but".

If I flip to HTML editing mode vs. rich text it shows up as a misspelling with red underline.

Community Manager
Thank you for the additional information, Marvin. What browser / OS are you using? I would like to test it using same so I can confirm to our support. Thank you.

Hi,

do you plan to release a Windows (UWP) version? Lots of us does have Windows on their PC's, some have Windows on tablet and several have Windows mobile.

Thanks,

Hall of Fame Super Silver

@Becky Scott,

I am using Chrome Version 61.0.3163.79 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Windows 10 Pro.

I just checked in Firefox (Version 56.0b10) and see the same lack of spell check even with the ABC check ticked (and html view works properly same as in Chrome).

Community Manager

@Marvin Rhoads Thanks for the reply. What I'm seeing in Safari is that it checks *after* you've typed everything. However, I realize that's not the behavior you're expecting. You want it to check as you're typing, correct?

Hall of Fame Super Silver

@Becky Scott,

Yes - I would expect it to spell check incrementally just as it does in most other web forms and programs such a Microsoft Word.

As I noted, it does so in the HTML editor tab, just not in the Rich Text tab.

Community Manager

@Marvin Rhoads Thank you for the additional information. I'm updating the ticket to include this. Appreciate the response. I will update when I have more information.

In addition to the spell check issue, do you know why I have to sign in to the site every day to be able to post?

In the past, I logged in once and it was good for months.

Thanks,

Reza

@Monica Lluis

Hello, do we have any update concerning my issue? Thank you!

Community Manager

@coopergti

Seems like your account for some reason was not migrated so when you logged back in, you look like a new user. The dev. team is still looking into it. Apologies for the delay.

For DEV team: MIG-908.
