After the Cisco CallManager 3.3 upgrade, the AD Plugin displays the "Failed to modify Active Directory Schema. Addition of attributes failed" error message

Core Issue

The administrator account used is a member of the Schema Administration group, which is necessary for updating the Windows Active Directory (AD) schema.

The Data Connection (DC) registry key  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Parameters\Schema Update Allowed is verified. The registry key should be set to 1, which allows you to remotely modify the schema.

The AD Plugin and the searching and viewing of users in the Global Directory work fine. This implies that the installation was successful, despite the error message.

Resolution

This is a known issue that can be ignored because it does not affect the upgrade and installation of the AD plugin. The error may occur when it is trying to add an object already configured on AD or trying to delete the SYS accounts, which no longer exist.
