Can a 1760 router act as a gateway in a IP Telephony setup?

To use a Cisco 1760 router as a gateway in a IP Telephony setup, refer to the following high level feature set:

  • Symmetric High Bit Rate Digital Subscriber Line (G.shdsl) WAN Interface Card (WIC)
  • Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) version 2
  • Cisco IOS Telephony Service (ITS)
  • Call Admission Control (CAC) for Voice over IP (VoIP) call
  • Differentiated Services (DiffServ) for voice signaling traffic
  • G.728 Code Support
  • Test Command Language (TCL) scripting for Interactive Voice Response (IVR)
  • Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) enhanced IVR
  • T.37 fax store and forward
  • Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
  • Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) 1.0 features

The modem pass through over VoIP 1760 can support up to six analog lines and up to 30 Digital Signal Level 0 (DS0) channels in one box when using G711. For a higher complexity codec, the DS0 overall number goes down to 15.
