Cannot schedule conferences. CCC hangs with database errors. The Event log displays the error message: PRIMARY filegroup is full

Core Issue

This issue is due to a software bug triggered by a conference that crosses the Daylight Savings Time (DST) cutover. For example, if the DST cutover is at 2am on Sunday, Apr 4, 2004, any conference scheduled for that time exhibits this problem.

This issue is mostly seen with 24-hour conferences because these tend to schedule resources at night  (usually the cutover time). Regular conferences and series conferences are usually scheduled in the daytime, when there is no cutover.

This issue occurs when the Data Conference Meeting Server (DCMS) database is full.

When this issue occurs, this is the application log error displayed:

Slave 1 tells Master that conference 1073 'Powerdown' has stopped. updateType = 3. ScheduledConferenceTable doesn't exist. No conference error. Conference stopped early - Free resource between 2004-05-12 14:00:18.0 and 2004-05-12 14:05:11.843Update CCS. Create new CCT entry. The issue is addressed in Cisco bug ID CSCed90355.

This issue is found on Cisco Conference Connection (CCC) version 1.2.2 and is to be fixed in CCC version 1.2.3.

To confirm whether or not Cisco bug ID CSCed90355 is hit, perform these steps:

  1. Open a command prompt (DOS window).

  2. At the prompt, enter cd c:\MSSQL7\Binn
    osql -w 2000 -E -Q "sp_helpdb DCMS" -o out.txt

  3. Check whether the primary file group shows a certain value for maxsize, then set the database size growth to unlimited to fix the problem.

    If the maxsize is already set to unlimited, contact Cisco Technical Support for assistance.

    To set the database size growth to unlimited, perform these steps:

    1. Use the Structured Query Language (SQL) Enterprise Manager (installed on the Cisco CallManager server) to connect to the CCC database. Use the sa SQL login for authentication.

    2. After the connection is made, expand the database entry in the list.

      A database called DCMS appears. Right-click on DCMS and choose Properties.

    3. In the Properties window, click on the Data Files tab. At the bottom right, a property called Maximum File Size appears.

      Under this property, there are two options. They are unrestricted file growth, restrict file growth (with a numerical MB limit).

    4. Select unrestricted file growth and click OK.

Note: It is not necessary to restart the CCC or SQL services after this procedure.
