Dial tone is loud on outside lines

Core Issue

Commonly, what the user perceives as a loud dial tone on the outside lines is the distinct dial tone that the Cisco CallManager uses.


To resolve this issue, perform these steps:

  1. Locate the AlwaysUseInsideDialtone parameter by going to CCMAdmin > Services Parameters > Cisco CallManager > AlwaysUseInsideDialtone.
  2. Set the AlwaysUseInsideDialtone parameter to True and users will not get the distinct dial tone when they dial the number for an outside line.
