How to enable the new features, such as Peer Firmware Sharing and Voice Record in Cisco CallManager 5.x


Peer Firmware Sharing

This feature allows peer firmware sharing on a remote location, in order to save bandwidth during the upgrade of the IP phones.

The configuration is very simple. Update the feature on the IP phones on
the remote location and one of the devices is selected as master and it shares the file with the other IP phones.

Voice Record

The voice record allows you to send the audio stream from the IP phone to a recorder. Complete these configuration steps on the IP phone:

  1. Make sure that you have the firmware 8.3.1.

  2. Set build-in-bridge to on.

  3. Do not enable Recording Tone in the Product Specific Configuration Layout section. It is disabled by default.

  4. Do not turn on the beep tone generator.

  5. Provision call recording flag for agent's line appearance.

  6. Enter one of these values in the Call Recording Option field: 

    • Automatic Call Recording Enabled

    • Application Invoked Call Recording Enabled

    • Call Recording Disabled
  7. Create Call Recording Profiles from the Device Setting page.

  8. Provision Recording Profile on Agent's line appearance page.

  9. Provision the cluster wide service parameter for Recording Notification Tone:
    • Play Recording Notification Tone to Observed Target True/False

    • Play Recording Notification Tone to Observed Connected Target True/False
