Installation of Cisco CallManager on the publisher fails with the Failed to launch "c:\ccmtmp\dcd\setup.exe, aborting installation error message

Core Issue

The installation log shows a Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password message.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, perform these steps:

  1. Check the user that performs the installation. It should be an administrative user.
  2. Make sure the sa password for the Structured Query Language (SQL) database is not blank.
  3. Make sure the server is not a member of any domains. Domain membership causes the installation to fail. In this particular situation, the machine was still a domain member when the installation started.
