This document describes to troubleshoot no audio/video issue during Jabber Video call
Follow the below steps to troubleshoot no audio issue:-
Check the following:
That the far end is sending audio, that a microphone is present and connected and that it has not been muted.
That the volume level is high and that your speakers or headphones are not muted. For this, check both the Jabber Video sound settings, the computer's volume control settings, and any hardware switches on your speakers or headphones that can be used to control volume.
That the correct device is used by your system:
Windows XP: The default sound device is used to notify you of an incoming call, while the default voice device is used after a call has been established. To check/set the default sound and voice devices go to Control Panel > Sounds and Audio devices.
Windows Vista / 7: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Manage audio devices. Set your speakers to be the default audio device and your headset to be the standard communication device. In Jabber Video's settings, set Jabber Video to use your headphones.
Mac OS X: In Jabber Video you can select Audio Output and Audio Input devices. These should be assigned to your headset. In System preferences > Sound > Output, select Internal speakers as output device. Ringtones and other sounds will then be received through your internal speakers and Jabber Video will choose your headset as the sound unit for videoconferencing.
Poor quality video or audio when using Jabber Video with SSL VPN
Using Jabber Video over an SSL VPN connection (for example Cisco AnyConnect) can seriously affect your call quality if the network is close to full capacity and there is packet loss on the link. We recommend against using SSL VPN connections with Jabber Video. If possible, use the Cisco VCS Expressway™ for firewall traversal and remote access, or use an IPsec-based VPN solution.
Can Jabber Video be used with Remote Desktop or run on a virtual machine?
To prevent the possibility of people being watched without being aware of it, Jabber Video cannot be used with Remote Desktop.
Running Jabber Video on a virtual machine is also not supported.
Cisco 9971- No video but audio works fine
Jabber for Windows introduced Video rate adaption. This allows Jabber to negotiate the optimum video quality based on network conditions. When rate adaption is being used you'll see the client upscale the video experience during the start of the call.
To guarantee an optimal video experience when Jabber is interoperating with your other Video devices you must enabled RTCP on UC manger.Enabling RTCP will allow optimal video adaptation to occur. This is disabled by default and can be enabled in the following way.
On the UC manager administration interface->Select Device/Device Settings/Common Phone Profile (or other profile if you apply a different profile 89/99xx devices).
Confirm the setting for RTCP* is set to enable.
This setting can also be overridden in the device specific settings under the "Product specific Configuration Layout"
Again, confirm RTCP* is set to enabled. Note, not all device expose the RTCP setting at a device level.
Settings RTCP to enabled will allow video adaption to take place.
