Softkeys are missing occasionally on a 7970 phone that runs IP phone load version 6.0(1) for outbound calls

Core Issue

The Cisco CallManager service parameter Barge Enabled Flag is set to False. The 7970 phone is configured with at least one shared line.

Occasionally, a 7970 phone displays no softkeys when going off hook in an attempt to make an outbound call. Also, the call plane that normally shows up in a light blue color stays the same darker blue color as the rest of the background.

Resolution

The fix for this issue is available in IP phone load version 6.0(3). To download the latest versions of IP phone load, refer to Software  Download: Cisco IP Phone FW 7900 Series (NON SIP).

For a short term workaround, reboot the phone. This solves the problem momentarily.

For a long term workaround with Cisco CallManager 3.3, change the Cisco CallManager service parameter Barge Enabled Flag to True. Reboot the phone.

For a long term workaround with Cisco CallManager 4.0, change the Privacy setting to False on the phone configuration page in Cisco CallManager Admin.
