Core Issue
With the abbreviated dailing feature on Cisco IP phones, a user can configure up to 99 speed dial entries on a phone. Speed dial entries that are not assigned to the speed dial buttons on the phone are used for abbreviated dialing. When a user starts dialing digits, the AbbrDial softkey appears, and the user can access any speed dial entry by entering the appropriate index. With three-button dialing, a user can have speed dials for up to 99 entries. A phone user can dial two digits and click AbbrDial to dial the configured speed dial.
Resolution
Configuration of speed dial is accomplished through the Cisco CallManager user's speed dial page such as http://<ipaddress>/CCMUser/speeddial.asp. (Replace "ipaddress" with your Cisco CallManager IP address). For example, a user can configure up to 99 speed dial entries on a phone. Speed dial entries that are not assigned to the speed dial buttons on the phone are used for abbreviated dialing.
This feature is not yet supported on IP Softphones or IP Communicator.
