The Cisco Emergency Responder server cannot communicate with CERPhoneTrackingEngine and displays the CER Phone Tracking could not get information[using SNMP] from n Switch(es) Check EventViewer on CERServer for details error message

Core Issue

The likely reason for this error message is a mismatch of Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) strings in the Cisco CallManagers (pub & subs) and the one defined in the Cisco Emergency Responder server.

Resolution

Complete the procedure in the Configuring the SNMP Connection section of Configuring Emergency Responder to correct the difference in SNMP public string settings among all Cisco CallManager servers and the Cisco Emergency Responder server in order to overcome this problem.

This checklist is also helpful if you face similar issues with Cisco Emergency Responder:

  1. First check to see if the SNMP string in the Cisco CallManagers (pub & subs) are different than in the one defined in the Cisco Emergency Responder server.
  2. Check to see if the phone tracking engine is started or not.
  3. Check the SNMP setting on the Cisco Emergency Responder server and under the phone tracking system (Phone Tracking menu > SNMP Settings). Take note of how many hosts or masks you have defined.

Refer to Troubleshooting Emergency Responder for more information.
