The DRF backup of the Cisco CallManager 5.x does not proceed, and the "Failed to initiate backup. Server [ Name ], component [LOCALE] requires component [CCMDB] to be registered" error message appears

Core Issue

In the Cisco CallManager 5.x, the Disaster Recovery Tool fails to accept the backup because of the unregistered locale component, and the Failed to initiate backup. Server [ Name ], component [LOCALE] requires component [CCMDB] to be registered error message appears.

Resolution

This issue is tracked in Cisco bug ID CSCsf18571, which is a duplicate of Cisco bug ID CSCse82357.

One possible workaround for this issue is to complete these steps in order to install the newest locales on the Cisco CallManager servers:

  1. Gain root access to publisher.


  2. Open /usr/local/platform/conf/drfComponent.xml in a text editor.


  3. Find the LOCALE component in the publisher object and make sure its dependencies look like this:

    <dependentlist class="linked-list">
    <string>CCMDB</string>
    </dependentlist>


  4. Find the LOCALE component in the subscriber objects and make sure their dependencies look like this:

    <dependentlist class="linked-list"/>


  5. Save the XML file.


  6. Restart DRF Master Agent in Network Service Control.


  7. Perform the backup. You should have no problem.


  8. It is also recommended to download and install the appropriate Cisco Unified CallManager Locale Installer Patch:

    cm-locale-patch_DRS-5.0.1.3-2.cop [for Cisco Unified CallManager 5.0(1)]
    cm-locale-patch_DRS-5.0.2.3-2.cop [for Cisco Unified CallManager 5.0(2)]
    and
    cm-locale-patch_DRS-5.0.3.1-2.cop [for Cisco Unified CallManager 5.0(3)]

    This patch is available from Cisco Downloads, for the Cisco Unified CallManager Disaster Recovery System. Refer to the associated readme file, which provides information on the installation procedure.
