The user receives the "number 2146823281 (0X0800a138f) undefined is null or not an object" error message when the user tries to access the Cisco CallManager

Core Issue

When trying to add a new line group or update the speed dial by accessing the Cisco CallManager, the user receives the message.

This is due to problems with the usage of the hostname or computer name for Cisco CallManager.


To resolve the issue, make sure that you are not using special characters such a < > + =  ; , ? in the host name.


  • The host name may contain alphanumeric characters and hyphens (-) and must begin with an alphabetical character.
  • Make sure that the computer name and workgroup labels follow the rules for  ARPA
