Unable to access Cisco CallManager Serviceability on the newly installed Cisco CallManager Server. Also, the Cisco CallManager service cannot be started

Core Issue

Unable to access Cisco CallManager Serviceability on the newly installed Cisco CallManager Server and the "The page cannot be found. The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable" error message appears. Also, the Cisco CallManager service cannot be started.

The Serviceability page at ProgramFiles > Cisco CallManager 4.1 > Cisco Service Configuration cannot be accessed and the The page cannot be found. The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable error message appears. This issue is caused due to a security filter applied in the Internet Information Services (IIS) properties. The filter did not allow access to the Cisco CallManager Serviceability page.

Resolution

Remove the security filter URLScan from the IIS properties in order to allow access to the Cisco CallManager Serviceability page.  The configuration of URLScan is performed through the URLScan.ini file.

Open the Urlscan.ini file in a text editor such as Notepad. This file is located in the \System This file is located in the \System Root\System32\Inetsrv\Urlscan\ folder.

UseAllowExtensions=0

By default, UseAllowExtensions option is set to 0. If this option is set to 0, URLScan blocks requests for file name extensions that are listed in the [DenyExtensions] section, but permits requests for any other file name extensions. If this option is set to 1, URLScan only permits requests for files with extensions that are listed in the [AllowExtensions] section, and it blocks requests for any other files.

For Example:

In the [AllowExtensions] section, add these file name extensions:

  • .ashx

  • .aspx

  • .htm

  • .html

  • .txt

  • .jpg

  • .jpeg

  • .gif

In the [DenyExtensions] section, add these file name extensions:

  • .ascx

  • .config

  • .cs

  • .csproj

  • .dll

  • .licx

Note You must restart IIS in order for your changes to take effect.

Refer to How to configure the URLScan Tool for more information.
