Unable to update phones in Cisco CallManager 4.x when all of the parameters are filled, and the "Remote Scripting Error - Microsoft Internet Explorer" error message appears

Core Issue

The changes made under device > phone > phone configuration can not be saved. When a change is made to the description field, for example, the Remote Scripting Error - Microsoft Internet Explorer pop-up error message appears.

The Internet Information Server (IIS) logs show that URLScan is rejected. The URLScan logs show that the query length is exceeded.

In order to replicate this issue, fill in all of the parameters in Cisco CallManager 4.2(3). The parameters include:

  • description

  • owner userid

  • device pool

  • common profile

  • calling search space

This issue also occurs in these versions of Cisco CallManager:

  • 4.1(3)

  • 4.2(1)
