Core Issue

Call problems to Cisco Unity fall into one of these two categories:

  • No internal or external calls are answered. Problems that prevent internal calls from being answered are a subset of problems that prevent external calls from being answered. Refer to the document  Cisco Unity does not answer any internal or external calls.
  • Some internal or external calls are answered. If you determine that the problem only occurs with some internal or external calls, refer to the resolution section of this case.

Resolution

There are several possible reasons that Cisco Unity may not answer some internal or external calls.

To determine the possible causes, perform these steps:

  1. Confirm that the hunt group programming is correct. Refer to the Confirming Hunt Groups section of Cisco Unity: Internal and External Calls.
  2. Confirm that the routing rules are working correctly.  Refer to the Confirming Routing Rules section of Cisco Unity: Internal and External Calls.
  3. Verify that the number of licensed voice messaging ports is correct.  Refer to the Confirming Voice Messaging Port Licensing section of Cisco Unity: Internal and External Calls.
  4. Confirm that calls are sent to the correct voice messaging ports and that the ports are enabled.  Refer to the Confirming Voice Messaging Port Settings section of Cisco Unity: Internal and External Calls.
  5. Confirm that the phone lines and voice cards are working correctly.  Refer to the Confirming Phone Lines and Voice Cards section of Cisco Unity: Internal and External Calls.
