What are the disaster recovery steps to rebuild the entire Point of Presence (POP) in case of failure?

Core Issue

The recovery plan is valid only when the second POP is fully operative.

Resolution

To rebuild the Data Gateway (DGW), perform these steps:

  1. Restore the hardware.

  2. Modify the /etc/system parameters.

  3. Create users and groups.

  4. Create directories and permissions.

  5. Either untar the java software backup, or copy the software from the buddy Data Gateway (DGW).

  6. Verify local configuration settings in the appropriate configuration files.

  7. Install TimesTen (TT).

  8. Install Foundation Classes - Operation Administration Management (FC-OAM).

  9. Install TimesTen Data Access Server (TTDAS) / Times Ten Mon (TTMON).

  10. Untar Sonic.

  11. Bulkload TTDAS.

  12. Copy startup files.

  13. Install Oracle.

  14. Run a bulkload on one of the two TTDASs from the running DGW.

  15. Sync the Oracle as needed.

  16. Bring up the data plan first. Allow it to sit for 2.5 hours.

  17. Verify REG database.

  18. Start Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) elements.

Note: These are only high-level steps, and they do not cover end-to-end solution. For more information, contact Cisco Technical Support.
