With CCM, Outbound calls from IP phones to the Nortel PBX fail when the caller ID feature reaches 0x82fe (768 calls). The IOS gateway's debug output displays the error message

Core Issue

With CCM, Outbound calls from IP phones to the Nortel PBX fail when the caller ID feature reaches 0x82fe (768 calls). The IOS gateway's  debug output displays the error message: Cause i = 0x81AF1A01 - Resource unavailable, unspecified

This problem can occur if the Nortel switch-type is set to IFC SL1 (Nortel proprietary). The Cisco CallManager and voice gateway must be configured correctly for switch-type DMS100.

Cisco CallManager traces show that this error code is received from the voice gateway:

81AF81:the private network near the local user (possibly a local private branch exchange [PBX])
AF:Resources unavailable, unspecified

107388: 2006-06-20 11:54:46 Local7.Debug 172.23.37.5 45124: Jun 20 11:54:45:
ISDN Se0/0/1:23 Q931: RX <_- _="_" br="br" callref="0x82FF" pd="8" release_comp="release_comp">107389: 2006-06-20 11:54:46 Local7.Debug 172.23.37.5 45125: <_009>Cause i = 0x81AF1A01 - Resource unavailable, unspecified

The 768th call fails with a message from the PBX that states there are no resources.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, change the switch-type configuration to SL100 on the PBX.

For more information, refer to Cisco Unified CallManager Release 4.1(3) - PBX Interoperability: Nortel Succession 1000 Release 4.0 to a Cisco 2851 Using T1 PRI DMS-100 with MGCP.

Also, refer to INTEROPERABILITY PORTAL to check the interoperability between Cisco products and various PBX vendors.
