Using QM Calabrio for recording need to use external drive for restoring recorded files

Hi Guys

I appreciate your comments on the following

We are using MCS 7845 H2 CCX and currently it has 1.36 TB which is getting full as the recorded files are stored on the local server and being backed upby networkbackup in the network cluster.

Lately we started to have disk full problems and to fix the issue we can not purge old records as we are legally obliged to keep the record for 5 years, We are doing both audio and data recording from the Agent desktop screen and also agent calls.

We are using Calabrio on QM that is sitting on the above server and we need to change the storage to point to a remote server

I have the following plan and we are using calabrio 2.7. which is not supported by Calabrio anymore and we are plannuign to do upgrade in the near future but I need to resolve this issue for the short term

Can you please comment on the following plan if you may please and if you have run into this situation before

For external storage of the recordings, we need to run a PostInstall exe, on the QM which will re build the QM database to update the pointers. This is an all or none configuration setup available for this change, so unfortunately we cannot do a portion testing, and will need to have all the current data moved over to the new storage.

We will be using the following:

Remote storage server IP

Full path of the external drive location and the specific folder. Will mapping a drive will work here to use it as path to the external storage location

Username/pwd, if required by the external storage

The application uses a service, FTS. For external storage, which is the case here, we need username/password that is required to access that location. It should be a domain user, that was read and write access to the local QM server ) and the external storage. This user must meet the following requirements:

  • The local QM server must know the user (the user is a trusted domain user)
  • Should be on the same domain as the server. domain specified must be trusted by the local QM server.
  • The user must be able to log on as a service
  • The user must have read and write access to both the external drive location entered and the location where monitoring and recording services is installed on the local server.

The above should work theoretically. However, if there are any wacky database or application related issues that cannot be worked out, (current application is out of support ),

My other option is to purge older recordings from the current local server to create space

Hello, Abdul. Have you looked

Hello, Abdul. Have you looked into entry level Cisco UCS C series servers for this remote storage server IP? There shouldn't be any issues upon meeting your user requirements. However, application and data base support requires a much hands on assistance. Have already consulted any Cisco partner or representative about this requirement as well?

Please let me know if you have other concerns or e-mail (adawa@cisco.com) me directly. Kind regards.

Hi before start the

Hi before start the postinstall.exe you need

1- Stop the Uploader controller service on the QM recording service through services to stop uploaded new recorded files from coming in.

2- Remove Proxy gateway from Add/Remove programs as it will be installed later when you run posyinstall.exe.

3- Map a drive to the exact folder and make sure that the service account is domain used and trusted by local server also.

4- The recording server and remote storage location must be on the same domain. They could be in different subnet.

5- Start Postinstall.exe file which will run and choose QM

6- Do not change the recording servr ip add leave it as it is.

7- Select external drive storage and enter the exact path which was mapped in step 3 to the recordings folder.Do the same thing for both audio and video if they are to be stored in the same location.

8- Enter service account user name accompanied by domain name then user name and enter password

9- Click to run it or continue.

10 once it is finished it will update QM admin the path you entered in the uploadind settings.

11- Start uploader controller from services.

12- Since you removed proxy gateway you need to reconfigure it again by going to programs-proxy Networks then on the left panel choose Gateway security then clink on to change Operation Security

13- Choose Administrators ( mapped drive or path to the network storage \ Administrators then set Connect to file and record to file to Allow and click ok.

14- If you do not do steps 12 and 13 you will not be able to replay the video files whetehr they are stored locally or on network drive.

This should resolve your issue and this version it is 2.7.3 it is end of life and out of support already and if you contact Calabrio or Cisco they will not help you as it is out of support already.

Good Luck
