Chi Fai Leung

I am doing the MeetingPlace Express migrate to the MeetingPlace 8.5. The users complained some features are lost on the MeetingPlace 8.5 as below:

1. The user cannot modify the "Number of Participants", when the user is opening a meeting.

2. The user cannot upodate the meeting (opened by Web) through the MP Outlook. The user cannot update the meeting (opened by Outlook) through the MP Web.

3. The admin can modify all meetings on the MP Web site without the meetings' password, that must be managed by the MP Conference Manager

Hi Edwin,

All the points you've mentioned are correct.

1. MeetingPlace 8.5 doesn't have the ability to reserve ports when scheduling a meeting like it was the case with MPE. You can only specify a default meeting size globally on the system, and every meeting that is started on the system by default books that many resources. If there are resources available at the time of the meeting, any participant over the default meeting size (but under the maximum meeting size) will be able to join the meeting.  In release notes you can see that is a major feature change compared to MeetingPlace 8.0 and earlier:

"Audio ports are no longer reserved. Meetings use ports as callers are added to the meeting, until all the ports are in use. Users no longer need to enter the number of ports when scheduling a meeting."

2. This is a major restriction in MeetingPlace. This behavior was the same on MP7.x, 8.0, and 8.6/8.6:

You must use the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Microsoft Outlook application to modify any meetings you schedule from Microsoft Outlook. If you use another application, such as the Web application, to modify a Cisco Unified MeetingPlace meeting, the update will not be reflected in Cisco Unified MeetingPlace.

" If you originally scheduled a meeting from Microsoft Outlook, we recommend that you continue to use Microsoft Outlook to make any changes to the meeting. If you modify or delete the meeting using an interface other than Microsoft Outlook, the system will not send out an updated notification to your invitees. Also, if you choose to modify the meeting through the web user portal you will only be allowed to modify a restricted set of meeting parameters unless you have System administrator or Attendant privileges."

3. I am not 100% sure about the description here. Can you please clarify it?

Thank you.

As the question 3, the admin cannot modify all meetings on the MP Web site without the meetings' password, that must be managed by the MP Conference Manager (MP App > Maintenance > Download Management Console)

The users always call the IT Admin to seek help to change the meeting pw, reschedule ... etc.. The MPE can modify all meetings on the Web without the meeting pw.

That is expected behavior in MP8.5, Edwin. Admin or any other profiled user must have a password for editing meetings via MP Web interface which is mostly an end user interface. This is one of the privacy improvements in the product.

Still, this can be overridden in Conference Manager as that is the ultimate tool for managing meetings by Admin/Attendant users and is not meant for end users.
