ASR/CVP-Comprehensive/VXML app

Curious if below is possible and if so if someone can point me in the right direction.

We have a requirenment to ask the caller to enter an acount number.  The account number always begins with between 1-3 alpha characters and the rest numeric characters (i.e. zf12121212).  The business requirenment is to ask the caller to SPEAK the alpha characters, then  input numerica characters via key pad. We then need to pass the account number back to ICM and will place in peripheral variable and displayed at agent destop.

Is it possible with Call studio app and Nuance ASR to achieve? If so, can you provide general idea of how to achieve?
